Pool and spa builders, if you are the type of builder who tries to split your time between meeting with potential new customers, designing pools and overseeing the construction crews, you probably have a hard time keeping up during the busy season. We have two services available for the small to medium sized custom builder and guess what? They don't cost you a penny unless we bring you business.
The first service is in regard to The Bidding Pool customers. Who could not use a few more leads each month? We provide our customers with highly customized designs, often with outdoor kitchens, arbors and new fences. Once we have completed the perfect design for each customer, we put together a construction plan. That plan would consist of a 1/8th inch scale drawing, grade, access, materials, retaining walls, and anything else needed in order for you to price the whole project. If you need anything additional or would like to see the yard before providing a final cost, we will be more than happy to meet you at the site. We try to keep our bids to three per customer. That provides the customer with enough information to be comfortable with their budget and it gives you, the builder, a good chance at gaining their business.
First, we would like to meet you and see several of your completed pools. We call references and check the BBB just as any responsible customer would. Then we take it a step further. Have you built pools under any other business name in the past ten years, and if so, why has the business name changed? How many years experience do you have in gunite pool construction? We also want to know construction techniques; steel schedule, gunite or shot-crete, beam, wall, floor and cove thickness, plumbing techniques, schedule 40 or flex pipe, etc. You get the idea - we do the research that most customers would not know to ask. When we recommend a builder, it is because we trust them; it is not just your name on the line, but ours as well.
The second service we can provide is a qualified sales person. Chances are you sub-contract your excavation, steel, plumbing, gunite, tile & coping, decking, etc. Why not sub-contract your design and sales? We understand that customer service is key with smaller, custom builders and building a relationship from day one seems like the right thing to do. Because of the importance of this, some of the builders we work with always join us in the initial meeting. From that point on, we work with the customer as if we are an employee of your company. We work with the customer until the design is perfect. Of course once the sale is behind us and construction starts, you will be the point of contact for that customer and the relationship will continue to build.
The obvious benefit to you as a builder is that you will be able to spend more time concentrating on construction and less time trying to design. There are also other benefits, however; one of them being professional designs. We use the latest versions of Pool Studio to show your customers 3D images of their project. We are also extremely knowledgeable in pool construction and the latest equipment available - just test us with some questions. Another benefit we have found to be true is that customers feel more at ease about the size of your company when there are multiple contacts. One of the hardest objections for a small builder to overcome is - what happens to my pool if the builder gets sick half way through construction? We represent your company as if we are your employee; and in a way, we are. We are more than happy to take calls from customers even after construction has started because they are still a customer of ours as well and we take personal referrals very seriously.
Rest assured, we do not talk about The Bidding Pool when we are representing your company. We just happen to be sub-contracted sales people. If a customer asks specifically about our role in the company we do not lie. In that situation, the answer is simply, "Mr. and Mrs. Homeowner, I am an independent designer. Construction is the most important priority to the builder and in order to make sure he spends 100% of his time concentrating on that, he hires me to design, unlike many other builders who try to split their time between designing and construction. You can be sure that if you decide to use us to build your pool, the builder will be in your back yard supervising the work and not at his desk trying to come up with a design for the next customer." Most often, that is a great selling point and really hits home with the customer.
You may use us for one of these services or for both of them. We are never paid until a project starts construction, that means if we don't sell it, we don't ask for a penny. We hold ourselves to the highest standard of integrity and honesty between builders and customers. We are not pushy 'car-salesman'. If you are looking for sales by any means, do not call us to help. We take pride in the fact that we can provide our customers with unbiased information and great designs but we leave the undesirable sales tactics to those companies that are not recommended by The Bidding Pool.
